Are you looking to intern with RedEye? If so, you might be wondering what the average day looks like here. For my personal project as RedEye’s Summer 2022 intern, I decided to create a video that could help other aspiring interns while also showcasing skills I learned over the summer.

How I Chose a Medium

To create this video I used Vyond. RedEye generally uses Vyond to create informational videos that contribute to the e-learning modules they make for their clients. After being given a few tasks that allowed me to explore Vyond’s capabilities, I knew I wanted it to be the medium for my personal project. I enjoyed the process of learning the software and knew I could translate the idea in my head into a Vyond video.

My Process

To bring this project to completion, I needed to take care of a few things. First, I needed to create my own avatar and a scene that matched how my real life bedroom looks. That’s right, the bedroom you see in the video looks like my actual bedroom, and the avatar looks like me! Pretty cool, isn’t it?

The next step was to write up a script and record voice overs. Surprisingly, this took the least amount of time out of everything else I needed to do. I definitely think the voice over could be a little better, but because it’s my first ever attempt, I’m willing to cut myself some slack.

After I finished those, I began animating the video. Figuring out how to animate the characters was difficult at first, but every time I ran into an obstacle, I was able to find solutions using Google or YouTube. A word of expert intern advice for you, YouTube comes in handy a lot more than you might think.

Besides animating the characters, I was able to spice up the video with some graphics and fancy camera zooms. I wanted my video to imitate real camerawork, and I was able to accomplish that by using the camera movement feature.

The last thing I needed to add was background music. This part was harder than you might think. The wrong background music can really make a great video into an okay video. Luckily, I was able to find some appropriate music eventually.

Some Closing Remarks

I hope you can see how much I’ve learned from my internship with RedEye from this video. If you’re considering applying to be an intern here, I fully recommend it. It truly is an amazing experience!
